Global Money week Celebrated With Pageantry, spiced with Financial Literacy Awareness Carnival in Abuja
"The future starts today"
IN what can easily be described as one of the most sensitive enlightenment drive ever witnessed of late, the people of the educational conscious town of Jikwoi, in Karo -Nyaya,an outskirt of FCT Abuja, were held spellbound when this year's edition of the Global money week was celebrated last night in Abuja, Nigeria.
The event, aimed to commemorate the global money week- an initiative of the child and youth finance international (CYFI) across the world to create awareness among children/ youths so as to equip them with knowledge, skills and opportunities to use financial services responsibly and prudently had this years theme simply as : " Learn • Save •Earn"
And what a major carnival it turned! As Nigeria's apex bank CBN in conjunction with SAGE global Nigeria, and CYFI
teamed up to make a very meaningful impact educating the people on need to train little kids to be prudent and save money while still young
The event commenced as early as 9 a.m at the JJS Jikwoi in Karo and the team was led by CBN deputy director, Consumer education, Hajia Khadejah Kasim and toured round the town with students , teachers, media crews, police and other forces in the carnival train that traveled round and lasted over four hours,with loud music playing non-stop to the delight of all and sundary
At the end of the day, the message was simple.. Hajia Kasim who spoke on CBN behalf said " We must make our children financially literate and lay a solid foundation for them to be economic citizens because as tomorrow leaders these children are very important to our economic future "
