Special Report...The Developmental Giant Stride of Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo; APC chieftain High Chief Alex Adoghe Commends Edo state Governor

In a candid sit‑down with Cerutti Media Group subsidiaries platform World Industries Leaders Magazine, High Chief Alex Adoghe, APC chieftain, barrister, business mogul and CEO of Noah Ark Hotel, praised Governor Monday Okpebholo’s first year as a “turn‑around period that has put Edo on the map of visible, people‑centred development.”

He opened the conversation by highlighting the governor’s bold infrastructure push, noting that the construction of the Ramat Park and Adesuwa Junction flyovers is already easing traffic congestion in Benin City. “These flyovers are not just concrete; they are lifelines for commuters who once spent hours stuck in traffic,” Adoghe said.

•Cerutti Media: “What stands out most about the governor’s transport agenda?”

Alex Adoghe: “Beyond the flyovers, the revival of the Edo Line public‑transport system is a game‑changer. It restores dignity to daily travel and injects vitality into the local transport sector, something we hadn’t seen in years.”

The governor’s road rehabilitation programme also earned admiration. Adoghe explained that the administration took responsibility for neglected federal and local roads, a move he described as “a rare display of accountability.” He added, “By fixing these arteries, we’re not only smoothing journeys but also opening up markets for farmers and traders across the state.”

Education was another focal point. Governor Okpebholo announced plans to recruit 3,000 teachers, a promise that resonated deeply with Adoghe. “Education is the bedrock of any society,” he remarked. “Hiring thousands of teachers will reduce class sizes and raise the standard of learning, which is exactly what Edo’s youth need.”

In healthcare, the governor secured land for the long‑awaited National Obstetrics Fistula Centre. Alex Adoghe called the development “a monumental step for women’s health.” He continued, “For years this project was stuck in bureaucracy. Seeing it move forward under Governor Okpebholo shows his commitment to addressing long‑standing health gaps.”

Fiscal prudence underpinned these initiatives. The governor signed a sizeable budget focused on capital projects and economic revival. “The budget isn’t just numbers on paper,” Adoghe asserted. “It’s a blueprint for sustainable growth, earmarking funds for infrastructure while safeguarding public resources.”

Empowerment programmes were also on the agenda. Plans for grants to people with disabilities and interest‑free loans for SMEs aim to stimulate entrepreneurship. “When we empower the vulnerable and small businesses, we create a ripple effect that lifts entire communities,” Adoghe explained.

Governor Okpebholo’s inclusive governance style was evident in his handling of cultural issues, such as the MOWAA museum controversy. Alex Adoghe praised the governor’s willingness to engage with protesters, saying, “He listened, he dialogued, and he showed that leadership can be both firm and compassionate.”

Transparency and accountability earned the governor the NUT Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedication to education. “He is judged by his work, not by his grammar or presentation,” Adoghe quipped, underscoring the governor’s mission‑driven approach despite occasional criticism.

Looking ahead, Alex Adoghe concluded, “Governor Monday Okpebholo has set a strong foundation. If he sustains this momentum—delivering on promises, maintaining fiscal discipline, and keeping the people at the centre—Edo State will continue its giant stride toward prosperity.”
