Advertorial ...Alhaji Ibrahim Salihu Darki, Sarki Kudun Gaya pays glowing tribute to his mentor Brig. General Buba Marwa on his reappointment by as the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Boss
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has a fresh mandate, and the mood is celebratory. Alhaji Ibrahim Salihu Darki, affectionately known as Sarki Kudun Gaya, took to the podium to laud his mentor, Brigadier‑General Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), whose reappointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was hailed as a vote of confidence in his visionary leadership. Darki described the occasion as a “great honour” for the nation and a testament to the President’s unwavering support for the fight against drug abuse.
In his tribute, Darki highlighted five core virtues that define General Marwa: *Leadership– steering NDLEA with clarity and purpose; Integrity – upholding the highest ethical standards even under pressure; Dedication – a relentless work ethic that has boosted personnel welfare and modernised logistics; Visionary – introducing strategic reforms that have curbed trafficking and fostered international cooperation; and Compassion: championing rehabilitation programmes that give countless youths a second chance. These qualities, he said, have transformed NDLEA into a model agency both locally and abroad.
Under General Marwa’s stewardship, NDLEA recorded unprecedented operational successes. In just 53 months the agency arrested 66,085 drug suspects, secured 12,201 convictions, seized over 1.1 million kg of illicit substances, and rehabilitated more than 26,000 addicts
The 2024 figures are equally impressive: 18,500 arrests, 2.6 million kg of drugs seized, and over 3,250 convictions, including ten drug barons ². Such results have earned NDLEA international praise and reinforced the agency’s credibility with partners like the US DEA.
Darki extended his heartfelt gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re‑appointing General Marwa, noting that the President’s decision underscores his commitment to a safer, drug‑free Nigeria. “We thank His Excellency for this great honour and for trusting a leader of Marwa’s calibre,” Darki said, adding that the President’s support has been instrumental in the agency’s recent triumphs.
As Nigeria looks ahead, the partnership between the NDLEA and the presidency promises continued progress in the war against narcotics. Alhaji Darki concluded with a rallying cry: “With General Marwa at the helm and President Tinubu’s backing, we are poised to build a brighter, drug‑free future for our youth and our nation.”
