 Chief Barr Godwin Dudu-Orumen is celebrating his 65th birthday today, August 11, 2025, marking a milestone in his remarkable journey as a sports enthusiast, lawyer, and entrepreneur. As a pioneer in sports promotion and development, Dudu-Orumen has made significant contributions to Nigeria's sports industry, inspiring countless young people with his passion and dedication.

In his own words, Dudu-Orumen emphasizes the importance of resilience and hard work, advising youths to shun shortcuts to success. "There's no shortcut to success," he stresses, highlighting the value of persistence and determination in achieving one's goals. This philosophy has guided his own career, from his early days as a television football program presenter to his current role as the founder and CEO of Sportshaq, Nigeria's premier sports bar and viewing center.

Dudu-Orumen's love for sports is evident in his various endeavors, including the Cowbell Football Academy, which he founded to nurture young talents and promote sports development in Nigeria. With four centers across the country, the academy provides a platform for young people to hone their skills and pursue their dreams in sports. Through his initiatives, Dudu-Orumen is uniting people and fostering a sense of community among sports enthusiasts.

As he celebrates his birthday, Dudu-Orumen reflects on his accomplishments with gratitude, particularly his ability to use Sportshaq as a platform to bring people together. "I'm glad not only to be a sports man and lawyer but also happy that I am using my Sportshaq to unite people," he says, highlighting the impact of his work on Nigeria's sports landscape.




To commemorate his  birthday, Dudu-Orumen often organizes  a colloquium, "GDO Birthday Conversations - Let's Talk Sports," which brings together sports industry stakeholders to discuss key issues and challenges facing the sector. The event in past featured prominent speakers, including Dr. Reuben Abati, Dr. Ikenna Nwosu, and Chief Segun Odegbami, among others.
