In a grand ceremony tagged "Legends and Heroes," renowned legal luminary and foremost human rights activist, Professor Mike Ozekhome, SAN, was honored with the 2024 Midwest Herald's "Defender of Democracy Award" on Wednesday, 12th March 2025.

The colorful event, held at the Midwest Herald Achievers Award ceremony in Benin City, Edo State, brought together distinguished personalities, including Prince Clement Agba, former Minister of State, Budgetary Matters; HRM, Oba Domun Thompson Gureje 1V, the Oloni of Eti-Oni, Osun State; and his wife, Queen Angelique-Monet Gureje Thompson.

Professor Ozekhome, who also delivered the keynote address titled "Has Democracy led to Good Governance in Nigeria?", was recognized for his unwavering commitment to promoting democracy, human rights, and good governance in Nigeria.
