NIGERIA & The Paris Olympics Flop.... Senator Ned Nwoko Proffers Pragmatic Solutions For The Future

Ned Nwoko, the  renowned sports enthusiast, business tycoon, politician and philanthropist, has shared his insights on why Nigeria failed to win a single medal at the recent Olympics in Paris.

 According to him, while speaking with the professional writer, Mike cerutti Osagie, the chancellor of Nigerias first all sports university gave  the following five Reasons that  contributed to Nigeria's poor performance:

1. Lack of investment in sports infrastructure: Nwoko believes that Nigeria's sports facilities are outdated and inadequate, making it difficult for athletes to train and compete effectively.

2. Poor leadership and administration: He argues that the Nigerian sports authorities have failed to provide the necessary support and guidance for athletes, leading to a lack of direction and focus.

3. Inadequate funding: Nwoko points out that the Nigerian government has not provided sufficient funding for sports development, making it difficult for athletes to access the resources they need to succeed.

4. Lack of talent discovery and development programs: He notes that Nigeria has failed to identify and nurture young talent, leading to a dearth of skilled athletes.

5. Poor preparation and planning: Nwoko believes that the Nigerian team's preparation for the Olympics was inadequate, leading to a lack of cohesion and strategy.

To address these challenges, Nwoko proposes the following three solutions for the next Olympics:

1. Invest in sports infrastructure: He advocates for the construction of modern sports facilities and equipment to provide athletes with the necessary resources to train and compete.

2. Establish talent discovery and development programs: Nwoko suggests creating initiatives to identify and nurture young talent, providing them with the necessary support and guidance to succeed.

3. Improve leadership and administration: He calls for effective leadership and administration in Nigerian sports, ensuring that athletes receive the necessary support and guidance to excel.

By addressing these challenges and implementing these solutions, Nwoko believes that Nigeria can improve its performance and win medals in future Olympics.

His words " it was shameful and depressing that we could not win a single medal at Paris despite billion's spent, we must start preparing for the next event in earnest,we must delete this fire brigade mentality" he postulated
