Unlike few other Ministers who had earlier expressed interest in contesting for the Country's top seat on the platform of All Progressives Congress,and later backed out ; fresh facts have emerged why APC starlwat, Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, officially resigned as Minister of Transportation
A top source close to the former Governor of Rivers told us the roles of a Presidential aspirant is not one to be toyed with
" Ameachi views the task before him as harculean that needs total concentration and recenetly stated that Effective presidential aspirant must have a strategic vision and a direction in which they want to lead the country. For me I want to be concerned with big issues and big challenges, and seek to explain my vision in a way that allows people to understand their circumstances and develop confidence in those proposals"
Amaechi in his resignation letter, expressed profound gratitude to the President for considering him fit to serve in his administration.
He wrote “It is with mixed feelings that I tender my resignation as the Minister of Transportation of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to contest for the Presidential ticket of our great party, the All Progressives Congress.
“Your Excellency, it has been a great honour and privilege serving as a member of your cabinet following your historic victory at the polls in 2015. Under your administration, the Ministry of Transportation has recorded significant achievements, made possible by your visionary support and commitment to ensuring that we deliver on our mandate.
“As I embark on the next phase of our mission to work towards a better Nigeria for all Nigerains, I humbly seek Your Excellency’s prayers, blessings and look towards to your continuous support and guidance.
“Your Excellency, whilst humbly seeking your kind consideration of my request please accept the assurances of my highest esteem.”
In a related development, the former Governor has reiterated his vision of one NIGERIA
In his words: "I do not belong to any geo-political bloc as far as my presidential ambition is concerned
‘’I’m not Hausa/Fulani candidate, I’m not Yoruba candidate, I’m not Igbo candidate and I’m not even the Kalabari candidate, but a Nigeria candidate" he divulged
