History was made in 1994,when the late General Sani Abacha, - who was also initiator of the NLNG- invited a former Head of State, Major Gen. Muhammadu Buhari to serve as head of the then newly created Petroleum (Special) Trust Fund (PTF)

Buhari as at then gave one condition for this acceptance: He must be given the title of Executive Chairman, and he must have a free hand to run the Fund as he saw fit, without any interference from anyone, he ended up a great success and today many are wondering why he can't transform that magic he used in his PTF days into managing and transforming Nigeria for the better
One of such concerned Nigerian is non other than
Dr. (Engr.) Chief Basil C. Ezeaniekwe, a Petrochemical /environmental expert and also Ex Executive GM NNPC
Now into private business &still consulting for NNPC
Only last week he spoke on The Achievement of General Muhammadu Buhari At PTF when huge success was recorded and want such positive drive placed to take Nigeria to the much anticipated next level
Speaking on some Buhari achievements he recalled
“Buhari philosophy was perform Well, You Get a Handshake. If You Perform Bad, You Get a Handcuff”
" Muhammadu Buhari then was fond of telling contractors on visit to sites: If you perform well, you get a handshake. If you perform badly, you get a handcuff.
" Buhari of those days was hyper achiever, as Petroleum Minister and general Manager of NNPC under Obasanjo between1976-1979 He built the only 3 refineries we have in Nigeria today He constructed 20 oil depot throughout Nigeria He laid 3200 km of oil pipelines.
"As the chairman of PTF under late General Sani Abacha. He managed the PTF with transparency by publishing the annual report on time and always address press conferences He used the excess crude oil fund to construct road all across Nigeria that it was even said that he constructed more roads than the Nigerian Federal Government have done in the past 15 years
"The PTF under him also supplies textbooks,notebooks, Buses to tertiary institution, drugs was supplied to hospitals He also rehabilitated our mass transit system supplying public buses all over the country.10.
"At PTF he was the one that discovered late Prof. Dora Akunyili and he was the one that nominated her for her position in NAFDAC
"As PTF chairman he refuse to take salary or allowances because he was already on pension as a former head of state"
With all these positive legacy and record of distinction, Engr Dr chief Basil C. Ezeaniekwe, now passionately wants the President to do in present day Nigeria what he did in days of yore at PTF
Now in conclusion the big Question from the petrochemicals expert is : What happened between General Muhammadu Buhari of 1994 (PDTF Chairman) and General Muhammadu Buhari of 2019. What has gone wrong.??
Indeed The hopes of about 200 Nigerians, especially the youths are still hanging in the balance and now passionately wants the President to do in present day Nigeria what he did in days of yore at PTF
Now in conclusion the big Question from the petrochemicals expert Dr. (Engr.) Chief Basil C. Ezeaniekwe is
: What happened between General Muhammadu Buhari of 1994 (PDTF Chairman) and General Muhammadu Buhari of 2019. What has gone wrong.??
