The Global Money Week (GMW) is an
annual event that takes place in March of every year. During the event, various
activities take place in numerous countries around the world to encourage youth
and children to learn about money, savings, creating livelihoods, gaining
employment and becoming entrepreneurs.
The GMW is an initiative of Child and
Youth Finance International (CYFI), an international Non-Governmental
Organization (NGO) committed to providing access to financial services for
children and youth, enhancing their awareness of economic rights and empowering
them to build their assets, invest in their future and ultimately break the
cycle of poverty.
Nigeria has been part of this movement
since 2013 and the Central Bank of Nigeria in collaboration with other
financial regulators, financial service providers, NGOs and Development
partners carry out several activities to commemorate the GMW.
The 2017 GMW is scheduled for 27th
March to 2nd April 2017. The following activities have been lined up
for the event:
·
Global
Money Walk at Karu Thursday on 27th March 2017 with school children
and volunteers;
·
Financial
Literacy Summit and Exhibition at the CBN Head Office;
·
School
mentoring programme where Bank CEOs and top management, CBN Governor, Deputy
Governors
and some Branch Controllers would visit numerous schools across the

of financial literacy.
