A LETTER OF GOODWILL

Dear Otunba Sir,

Greetings on the recent 30 years anniversary of your bank, First City Merchant BANK (fcmb)! You and the bank have no doubt reached a new milestone. All of us Global youths of Nigeria movement join in wishing you Happy Birthday and express our appreciation and admiration for all you have accomplished. We are confident you will continue to climb to even greater heights and wish to extend our best wishes to you on your immediate future aspirations

Sir, I as youth leader, wishes to let you know that your grass to grace story with FCMB is a case study for youths to believe in the beauty of their dreams.

Three decade ago, you had a dream, a vision. You were cheated as an employee in another institution created by Nigerians and Americans as well as expertise, while investigation shows that you were the brain behind the whole thing. After you went on a course in the US and came back with ideas with which to set up a merchant bank. But when it came to selecting the Chief Executive, you were told that in spite of all entreaties, you could not be the Chief Executive because you happened to have basic training in Law, and they brought a young man with little or no experience from America at 32, to replace you.

That we are now celebrating FCMB at 30 is gift to God and tenacity, in his story, late American president Abraham Lincoln posited that: ‘When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on”

That was exactly what you did and one of the gifts God gave you is courage and tenacity of purpose, apart from that, God gave you what we call courage, tenacity of purpose, discipline.

Youths must learn from you as a man that always knew where he was going, but the vista was as misty and unbelievable. But you have always wanted to prove a point that you are not envious. And with the grace of Almighty God when you felt cheated by not being allowed to head an institution created by foreign institutions and then former employers, you did what many Nigerians will not do, by having the the courage to desire and without anything your pocket except God, to start on a journey of self-actualization.

Sir, it was not a tea party, It was a journey of faith, a journey on the handbill of God. Your confidence and trust in the Lord God our Savior. All these you started with and they are up till today. In the course of the whole journey, the world can today it has been turbulent and for many people to see you after about 40 years of doing what no other Nigerian had done, many must today learn from you and be very focus, courageous and backed up with an unshaken faith that the Good Lord will carry us through, come rain come sunshine.

In conclusion Sir Otuba, while wishing you happy 30th anniversary of FCMB, I also want to let you know, on behalf of Global youths that we all value your grass to grace story, for only the brave have been able to few distinguish themselves by continued excellence.
