DR OLUKOYA VINDICATED FOR BELIEVING IN MOUNTAIN OF FIRE AND MIRACLES WOMEN BASKETBALL TEAM...As Team Wins Zenith Bank Women Basketball League 2026.

Dr. Daniel Olukoya, General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, has been vindicated for his unwavering belief in the MFM Women Basketball Team after the girls clinched their third title in four years at the 2026 NBBF/Zenith Bank Women Basketball League.

In an explosive finale played on Saturday at the Indoor Sports Hall, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, the MFM girls survived a late scare from record winners of the league, First Bank, to win the thrilling encounter 66-64 points after overtime.

*HOW MFM WON:

MFM started like champions. The Yaba girls showed quick movement, excellent ball rotation and disciplined defence to win the first quarter 11-6, second quarter 13-12 to lead 24-18 at half time, and third quarter 19-17 to take a commanding 43-35 lead into the final quarter. It was an unbeaten campaign and MFM had already beaten First Bank three times this season.

But First Bank, the Elephant Girls and 9-time champions, refused to die. They mounted sustained pressure in the fourth quarter, outscoring MFM 21-13 to level the scores at 56-56. MFM's Beggi converted one of two free throws to tie the game and force the dramatic five-minute overtime.

Overtime was nervy. First Bank regained the lead with a three-pointer from Jesutofunmi, Beggi responded with two free throws to keep MFM within one. Then with the scores tied at 64-64 and five seconds remaining, Regina Iornumbe hit a clutch two-point jumper against her former team to put MFM ahead 66-64 and seal the victory. The triumph also marked coach Ochuko Owolabi’s third title as MFM coach.

MFM player Abigail Isaac who played a key role said: “We were not going to give up because we were confident that this was our year.” By that victory, MFM pocketed N7.5million and completed a perfect unbeaten 2026 season.

It was indeed a vindication for Dr. Olukoya, whose investment and spiritual backing for the team has continued to pay off. MFM Captain, Okoh Ukamaka, after lifting the trophy, thanked Dr. Olukoya and his wife for believing in them, saying their support and encouragement is what keeps them competing at the highest level.

Meanwhile, speaking at the final, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank Plc, Dame Dr. Adaora Umeoji, represented by Executive Director Adamu Lawani, described all the teams as winners while reiterating the organization's commitment to the development of women basketball in the country after doing so for 20 years.

A total of N19.5million was paid out in team and individual prizes. First Bank collected N5million as runners-up, while Nigeria Customs won the N3million bronze prize after beating ASO SKY Queens 51-38. MFM's Ioumabo Pius emerged Most Valuable Player and went home with N2million and was also named in the Best Five.

The victory has proved once again that Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries is not all about church alone, but also about raising champions and empowering the girl-child through sports.

With this third title in four years, the Mountain of Fire and Miracles girls have cemented their place as the new powerhouse of Nigerian women basketball, and Dr. Olukoya's vision has come full circle - from the pulpit to the podium, it is victory all the way.
