On this historical landmarks moment of Capt. Chris Najomo JP at 65 ( 17th September 2026), we join family, friends, colleagues and the entire Nigerian aviation family to celebrate a quintessential leader, an accomplished aviator and a silent philanthropist. Your life has been a shining example of discipline, humility and selfless service.
You are fondly celebrated as the Reformer of Aviation, and rightly so. Since your assumption of office as the Director General of Civil Aviation at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, you brought calm, competence and credibility to an industry that yearned for steady hands. You changed regulation from being feared to being respected.
What stands you out is your silent philanthropy. Without noise or cameras, you have lifted many young aviators, supported indigent students, assisted widows and extended hope to the less privileged. You do not give for applause, you give because compassion is your nature, and that is true greatness.
Under your leadership, the NCAA witnessed a historic rebirth in safety oversight. You made safety and security non-negotiable, strengthened surveillance, ensured strict compliance, and restored Nigeria's strong standing before international bodies. Our skies are safer because you led.
You revolutionized the passenger experience in Nigeria. Through a more vibrant and responsive consumer protection directorate, you restored dignity to the Nigerian traveller, ensuring timely refunds, speedy resolution of complaints and a new culture of respect for consumer rights. The people felt the impact.
Your greatest reform has been with people. You prioritized staff welfare like never before, ensuring prompt payment of salaries, promotion of due staff, payment of housing arrears and other long-pending benefits. You revived moribund regional offices, entrenched financial discipline, promoted ease of doing business and built industrial harmony that led to the first-ever management and staff celebration of its kind in twenty-five years of the NCAA.
At sixty-five, you have not just added years to life, you have added immense value to an entire industry. Your calm disposition, pilot's precision, administrative wisdom and fatherly leadership have created a conducive atmosphere where productivity thrives and staff are proud to serve.
As you step into this graceful new chapter, we pray that Almighty God grants you robust health, uncommon wisdom, peace of mind and long life. May your quiet seeds of kindness continue to speak for you, and may your years ahead be even more impactful than the years behind.
The Nigerian aviation industry is truly blessed to have you. History will remember you as the man who stabilized our aviation sector, sanitized its operations, strengthened its regulations and restored confidence in our skies.
