SPECIAL REPORT: ALHAJI OGBEMUDIA WINS BIG IN NATIONAL CHRONICLE AWARD

It was an eventful night of honour, celebration, and manifestation of the absolute greatness of God as Alhaji Abdulsalam Ogbemudia last Thursday received the Agriculture Industrialist of the Year 2025 Award by the National Chronicle Newspaper. The colourful ceremony attracted stakeholders in agribusiness, government officials, traditional rulers, and captains of industry who gathered to celebrate excellence in Nigeria’s agricultural value chain.

Alhaji Ogbemudia, a respected entrepreneur and frontline promoter of mechanized farming, was recognized for his outstanding contributions to food security, agro-processing, and youth empowerment through agriculture. His investments across crop production, livestock, and value addition have created hundreds of direct and indirect jobs while strengthening Nigeria’s push for self-sufficiency in food production. The award affirms his role as a pacesetter in modern agricultural industrialization.

In his acceptance speech, a visibly elated Ogbemudia said, “Thank you Allah for your uncommon favour, guidance, love, and blessings. Your towering grace upon me more often than not keeps me imagining what I have done to deserve these outpouring recognitions.” He dedicated the award to God, his family, staff, and Nigerian farmers who toil daily to feed the nation despite challenges.


The Agriculture Industrialist of the Year further declared, “I am inspired to do more for God's glory and betterment of humanity.” He pledged to expand his out-grower schemes, invest in smart farming technology, and deepen partnerships that make agriculture profitable for young Nigerians. Guests described his speech as humble, faith-driven, and a call to purposeful service.

led government to come out with strategies and schemes to motivate today’s youths to move more into farming. He noted that with deliberate incentives, access to land, single-digit financing, and guaranteed markets, agriculture can absorb millions of unemployed youths and reduce the nation’s dependence on food imports. He stressed that farming must be rebranded as a wealth-creating venture, not a punishment.

Stakeholders at the event echoed his position, urging federal and state governments to scale up support for agripreneurs through training, subsidies, and infrastructure in rural farming clusters. They commended Ogbemudia’s practical model of integrating faith, enterprise, and social impact, noting that such examples are needed to change the narrative around agriculture among young people.

The night ended with networking, cultural displays, and goodwill messages to all awardees. For Alhaji Abdulsalam Ogbemudia, the National Chronicle Award is not just a plaque but a fresh mandate to champion agriculture as Nigeria’s next oil, while inspiring a generation to see farming as a pathway to dignity, wealth, and national development.
