World Maleria Day....DR. BUNMI ROACH URGES NIGERIA, AFRICA TO INTENSIFY FIGHT AGAINST MALARIA

Malaria is a thief that comes daily to steal destinies, drain strength, and bury hope in homes across Africa.”

That was the solemn declaration of Dr. Apostle Bunmi Roach, JP, as she advised Nigerian and African governments to invest more in the global fight against malaria.

Marking World Malaria Day, Dr. Roach expressed grief that young children and adults still die daily from a disease that is preventable, treatable, and curable. She described malaria as not just a medical issue but a spiritual and social burden that weakens families, disrupts education, and impoverishes nations. For her, every life lost to malaria is a ministry cut short and a purpose unfulfilled.

The London-based cleric and nation builder called on governments to move beyond slogans and commit substantial resources to malaria eradication. She advocated for increased funding for primary healthcare, community health education, local production of drugs and vaccines, and aggressive environmental sanitation. Africa, she said, must stop waiting for external solutions while its people perish. “We pray, but we must also plan. We fast, but we must also fund,” she stated.

Dr. Roach emphasized the role of faith leaders and communities in the fight. She urged churches, mosques, and traditional institutions to partner with government in spreading awareness on prevention, use of treated nets, and early testing. According to her, malaria thrives in ignorance and poor sanitation, and the pulpit must become a platform for health advocacy. She shared testimonies of members who lost children to malaria, insisting that no family should suffer such preventable pain.

As World Malaria Day is observed on April 25, Dr. Apostle Bunmi Roach’s charge to African leaders is clear: treat malaria as a national emergency and a kingdom assignment. “If we invest in souls, we must invest in saving lives,” she said. “A healthy Africa is a worshipping Africa, and a worshipping Africa will glorify God instead of burying its young.”
