Special Report...Edo Broadcasting Service MD CEO Suleiman Aledeh celebrates one year in office… speaks of his vision

      By Richlist Magazine international

It’s been a whirlwind twelve months since Governor Monday Okpebholo swore in Suleiman Aledeh as the substantive Managing Director of Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS)

Collected friends, staff, and industry peers gathered at the historic studios to toast the milestone, and the energy in the room was palpable—like a fresh broadcast about to go live.

In his first year, Aledeh steered EBS through a rapid revamp, boosting audience ratings by double‑digit percentages and launching a slate of new programmes that have quickly become household names. He credits the dedication of the EBS team for turning the vision of a “people‑first” broadcast into a daily reality.

When asked about his vision, Aledeh spoke passionately about turning EBS into a catalyst for Edo’s cultural renaissance. He envisions a media house that not only reports news but also amplifies the stories of farmers, artisans, and the youth who are shaping the state’s future.

A core pillar of that vision is a renewed focus on local content. Aledeh plans to increase the production of Edo‑centric documentaries, music showcases, and drama series, ensuring that the airwaves echo the rich heritage of the Awori and other Edo communities.

Digital transformation is another frontier he’s eager to conquer. By the end of the year, EBS aims to launch a fully integrated online streaming platform, complete with interactive features that let viewers vote on story topics and submit their own footage.

Community engagement sits at the heart of his strategy. Aledeh has already initiated “EBS Town Halls” across the state, where citizens can meet reporters, share concerns, and co‑create news stories that matter most to them.

Investing in staff development is a promise he’s keeping. Under his leadership, dozens of journalists have attended international workshops, and a mentorship programme pairs seasoned anchors with fresh talent to nurture the next generation of Edo broadcasters.

Collaboration is also on the agenda. Aledeh has forged partnerships with major regional networks—including Channels TV and TVC—to co‑produce special reports that give Edo a louder voice on the national stage.

Reflecting on the journey, Aledeh said, “One year feels like a single episode, but the story of EBS is just beginning. With the support of our audience and the dedication of our team, we’re set to write many more chapters of impact and inspiration.”
