FCT Minister Wike Talks Tough • Says Enough is Enough
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to squatters obstructing road construction in the FCT, saying "enough is enough".
This warning came during his supervision of the demolition of structures obstructing the construction of the Arterial Road N20
Wike emphasized that the FCT Administration would not tolerate sabotage of projects in the public interest. He noted that residents had received eviction notices, compensation paid and were informed about the need for cooperation with the government. Despite this, the residents refused the government's offer of compensation and relocation assistance
The Minister stressed that the road project was crucial for the public interest and not for private development. He warned that the FCT Administration would not allow a few individuals to hinder the project's progress, having granted them ample time and made funds available for compensationWike's warning is a clear indication that the FCT Administration is committed to completing the road project by the end of May. He urged the affected residents to cooperate with the FCT Department of Resettlement and Compensation to finalize the modalities for their relocation
This development is part of the FCT Administration's efforts to improve infrastructure and development in the capital city. Wike's leadership has been marked by a focus on completing critical projects, such as the Kabusa-Ketti access road, which is expected to enhance security and socio-economic conditions in the area
