" If you cannot feed hundred person's..feed just one"- Mother Theresa Quote
This weekend, Humanitarian per excellence,Ambassador Mercy Ifeanyi Nwachukwu marks a significant milestone—twenty years of unwavering commitment to humanitarian support. Her journey has not only transformed countless lives but has also left an indelible mark on communities across Nigeria and beyond. As she reflects on her two decades of service, the essence of her work shines through in her heartfelt responses to The international magazine brand called Richlist questions.
“My life has been shaped within the act of giving and helping the needy,” she begins, her voice echoing a message of inclusivity and compassion. “I speak for the voiceless, not minding where you come from, the language you speak, or the color you carry. I believe solely in humanity and the act of showing love, compassion, and care.”
For Mercy, every interaction and every smile shared has fostered a deeper understanding of humanity's diverse tapestry. Her travels across 32 states in Nigeria have been a testament to her dedication, exposing her to the myriad of experiences within her homeland. "I have encountered the good, the bad, and the ugly," she recalls, “but through it all, I stand today to say there is love and peace in giving a helping hand to those in need.”
*Fundraising for Change
When asked about her methods for raising funds to support her charitable endeavors, Mercy explains the challenges and triumphs. “Over the years, our NGOs—Women Centre for the Family International and Mercy Youth Assembly Nigeria—have carried out over 5,000 charity works in different capacities,” she shares. “With little or no support and sponsorship from any quarters, we have achieved these feats through self-sponsorship and miracles from God.” Her faith and resourcefulness have been pivotal in ensuring that her initiatives continue to thrive despite financial constraints.
Mercy’s commitment extends beyond Nigeria, as she also engages in humanitarian efforts in Canada. “Yes, I do the same in Canada,” she asserts, emphasizing her belief in global citizenship and the interconnectedness of human experiences. “No matter where we are, the need for love and support transcends borders.”
*Plans for the 20-Year Celebration*
As her 20th anniversary reaches today
Mercy is filled with a sense of gratitude and purpose. “For this year’s celebration, we have planned a series of events that reflect our journey and the people we have touched,” she reveals. The events will not only serve as a celebration of her two decades of service but will also aim to raise awareness and funds for future projects. “We’ll host community gatherings, workshops, and outreach programs, focusing on empowerment and education, which are at the heart of our mission.”
