Sir John Courage Mellencamp was indeed point blank right when he divulged that "You've got to stand for something or you're gonna fall for anything"


Such is no doubt the story of the woman called Aralola Olamuyiwa popularly known by her stage name Ara - she has over the years past stood for what she believed Is her calling , performance wise..




Ara  is no doubt the first female talking drummer on world stage. A cultural icon, Philanthropist and business woman. 


Ara was appointed cultural ambassador to Ìfẹ́ Kíngdom by His Imperial Majesty the Ooni of Ìfẹ́, Oba (Dr) Adeyeye Babatunde Ènìtan Ogunwusi.


 Ara's performance is full of passion, electrifying, singing, drumming and dancing leaving her audience asking for more...

She has performed in different parts of the world; USA, Jamaica, India, United Kingdom, China, France, Amsterdam, Ghana, Canada etc. 


She recorded and performed with Stevie Wonder on his A TIME TO  LOVE  album. She has performed alongside acts such as Wyclef Jean, Wesley Snipes, All 4 One, Femi Kuti, King Sunny Ade, Angelique Kidjo, late Brenda Fassie, Wizkid, David O, Tiwa Savage,   Seun Kuti, Dbanj, 2Baba etc. She was honoured with the key to the city of Miami in 2004 for pioneering and popularising the art of traditional drumming among the female gender. 


She has numerous awards both locally and internationally. She is the initiator of EKO INSPIRE ME, a project with a mission to rescue youths off the street and give them a better life.

There are no two acts like Ara in the world. 







Just recently we caught up with the Enigmatic Ara and asked her just two questions


She was emphatic in her revert; we asked : You always wished your brand of talking drum music will be Heard globally..have you fulfilled that desire?


" Wao..Not yet, I will say ,but  however I am working towards it and I know it will happen sooner than I thought. The world is tilting towards Africa, more receptive of our culture and especially music.


Asked about her  major new year goal she simply said 


" My major new year goal is to be happy and live my dreams."
