The Significance of June 12 in Nigeria's History.... Revisited : A POWERFUL SPEECH BY AMB(DR) MERCY IFEANYI DANIEL DAVID UKAH @ THE BOOK LUNCH OF HIGH CHIEF ABIMBOLA ABODERIN
BEING a teenager at the peak of June 12 saga and brouhaha in 1993, I witnessed the discomforts, fears, terrorism, tribalism, hunger, hardship and cold wars of the aftermath of the annulment of June 12 free and fair election which led to my family fleeing to the eastern part of Nigeria imo state where we hail from due to fear of the unknown and quest for safety.
We experienced hardship and other effects of migrating from one location to another inappropriately.
June 12 aftermath left so many dead, displaced, sick and traumatised and still after 27years the effect of june 12 is still highly significant and negatively felt in Nigeria as a country with over 200 million people clamouring for power, protection, security, socio amenities and peace .
Being a youth and women advocate in Africa and as a Nigerian I preach peace, unity and love while preaching for togetherness and restructuring of the nation as one Nigeria, I strongly suggest what we need is change of mindset, attitude, behaviour and the entire process of rebranding the people and the country at large .
Let's preach peace and go into dialogue, confession and forgiveness letting our past go behind us while we seek reconciliation amongst ourselves starting from the leaders to the subjects.

We have to embrace peace by shunning tribalism, corruption, religious superiority, inequality and ethnicity division .
We must accept ourselves as one people despite our differences in language, culture, religion, beliefs, etc we are originally uniquely blessed and there our strength lies we must understand the power in our diversities and make good use of it to better ourselves and our dear nation Nigeria
The youths are the engine room of the nation very energetic and blessed with wisdom and creativity we can work together to make our nation the best while women can be more feminine and productive with the power of good leadership we will make a difference amongst other nations and continents
June 12 has left us with a strong experience to share from generation to generation with a good platform for a better democracy and free and fair elections in nigeria while the bad part of june 12 is for us to.learn from its negative effects and never get into such unruly situations again as a nation.
We are a blessed nation and let's use what we have to get what we want
I appreciate High chief ABIMBOLA ABODERIN for his fatherly support and time spent to put together this master piece that will serve as a tool for future clarification of june 12 controversies as it will serve also as a historic book that tells the true story of June 12 and its saga
