Only
a few days back, His EXCELLENCY, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR for the first time in Nigerians Government
relations circle appointed seasoned communications expert and political maser
strategist, Hon Louis Odion FNGE as his Senior Technical Assistant on Media
Shortly after that appointment, many have called .text and sent
email to us on clarifications on what that term stands for, in our usual style,
we went to our research table to dig and dissect the true meaning of a Technical
Assistant
OUR FINDINGS
WORLD LEADERS
can reveal that Technical Assistants work in a wide range of industries. They
may work in healthcare, banking, manufacturing, or computer science, just to
name a few. Their role is a combination of administrative assistance and
technical support. They may work with a business’ clients or may support an
internal team or individual. Their day is generally composed of many small
tasks that help support the overall goal of the company they work for.
Technical
Assistants normally work under direct supervision of a manager or team leader.
Their responsibilities will require daily interactions with a host of staff and
possibly customers as well. They must be comfortable working with minimal
supervision and also working in a team setting
IN
Odion’s case, he is expected to work .he is expected to work directly under President Muhammadu
Buhari as Senior Technical Assistant on Media as part of the ongoing plans to
shore up the President’s representation in the media.
His appointment did not come as surprise to many, for he is tested
and trusted hand in the world of Africa’s mass media
A big brand household name in Nigeria’s media scene, Odion
boasts of well over three decades experience in several leading outfits.
Described as
a serial award winner, He has held senior editorial positions at the National
Concord, ThisDay newspapers and SUN newspaper to wide acclamation from all.
At the
National Life newspaper, he rose through the ranks to become its Managing
Director and Editor-in-chief before making a smooth transition into the
political scene following an appointment as Commissioner for Information and
Orientation in Edo State-under Governor Adams Oshiomole
.
His years
of service have seen him earn several notable awards and feats, including a
contribution to Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka’s book: “Green Cards,
Green Gods.”
Odion is a
Fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Lagos State Ambassador for the
Environment and a consistent contributor to the editorial content of numerous
Nigerian newspapers- including the WORLD LEADERS ONLINE MAGAZINE, of which he

reading, writing, enjoying jazz music and mentoring young talents across the
globe
Indeed this plum appointment is a victory to Odions long wait for a top
notch job, for in Julius Caesar’s words “It is easier to find men who will volunteer to
die, than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience.
