Her young style has always set her apart, from her university days , she has been a trendsetter
Nene Johnson is a Nigerian singer, model, actress, songwriter and entrepreneur.
She was born on the 16th of April and she studied English at the Lagos State University. Her musical style fuses Afro Pop, Soul and RnB with the magic of the African sound. She uses music to paint pictures and tell stories most people can relate to in her songs. She has two excellent videos of her hot singles "African Boy" & "GoGo" currently on air. Both videos were directed by Capital Dreams Pictures and they can also be viewed on YouTube.
She had two concerts this year. "An Evening With Nene Johnson" which was held earlier this year in February and the just recently concluded one "Nene Johnson And Friends" which was held on October 6th. Both Events were very successful and her fans turned up with massive support. She is currently working on releasing new music and travelling out to shoot some musical videos for her new songs.¶
Only last week we met her at the Abuja international convention centre where she came for an event and De Cerutti Update had a chat with her . Excerpt 1
* As to what led her to music -she said " Music has always been my passion, I found myself singing in front of the mirror from childhood and always entertaining my siblings and guests at home, as well as entertaining in school....
* As to how does she feel as graduate & singing - "It feels good doing what I love and what am passionate about.... am a very passionate and goal driven individual so doing what I love keeps me fulfilled...
* On what are type of challenges young Africa coming artist face ? - well I would speak for Nigeria... Most rising Artists handle struggle to get record labels or investors. music business is very capital intensive. there aren't standard record labels in Nigeria, we have just very. also cost of music promotions are very high and that is very challenging for a rising unsigned artist who also has no major investors backing him or her up...
