EBONYI GOVERNORS LODGE ABUJA TO BE ACCORDED A BEFITTING STATUS SOONEST
The Ebonyi State government is to embark on the renovation of the Governor’s Lodge and the State Liaison Office Abuja to give it a befitting status.
Disclosing this while conducting the members of the State House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru round the two dilapidated buildings, the State Liaison Officer, Abuja, Barr. Joseph Ekuma Nkamah who represented the State Governor, Chief David Umahi showed the legislators some of the structural defects, wall cracks and leakages on the roof of the buildings saying “this place is not befitting as a governor’s lodge compared to other States” and “does not give a good impression of the state as the governor plays host to other governors, Ambassadors etc”.
Barr. Ekuma Nkamah said that the lodge when renovated would be used by the governor until the proposal by the government to acquire a land and build a more befitting governor’s lodge was actualized, and the Maitama lodge would be transferred to the Deputy Governor for use as his lodge.
Areas inspected by the legislators included, the governors reception, waiting room, office, kitchen, inner parlour, laundry and dining room. Also inspected were the liaison office’s reception, registry, kitchen etc.
On the observation of the legislators who equally inspected the land for the proposed Ebonyi House at the central business area, Abuja, the speaker, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru said it would be known at the chamber of the House on their next meeting.
