FOCUS MUST BE WATCHWORD FOR TODAYS YOUTHS,ADVICES WELLNESS PRACTITIONER,JULIE FORTUNE
Motivational report by Mike Cerutti, Ikoyi Lagos
Lady Julia Fortune (nee Fagbenro) the African
lady domiciled in the United State of America, with her husband is no doubt a woman today’s
youth can learn a lot from
For in addition to being a wellness
advocate, author, and entrepreneur she is also a woman with strong faith in God
and insists
she is one who has an unshakable and fearless 1-1 relationship with her maker –
God Almighty and she is not afraid to share Him with anybody and at anytime.
Why? Julia is a walking testimony and she has seen and tasted the goodness and
the mercy of the Lord in the land of the living and in as much as she has
chosen “life” instead of “death” – she will continue to use all her God given
abilities, wisdom, potentials to support the Universe!
Not so long ago, we asked her advice for today’s’ youth and she
gave a few but says focus is key to greatness. In her words: ‘’Focus is vital
in life, and that is the
ability to focus gives passion and persistence the backbone needed to complete
the task’’.
She added: ‘To stay focused on
your goal you first have to define your goal. What is your goal? What is
your vision? What specifically do you hope to achieve and why do you want to achieve it?‘Next, you need to plan for discouragement and failure. When you fall off the healthy eating bandwagon, lose out on an opportunity to someone else or make a stupid mistake, what will you do? Will you beat yourself up, throw your hands in the air and give up completely? Have a pep talk ready before this happens so that you can regroup, refocus and move forward!
‘ You also need a contingency plan. How will you decide if you need to shift your focus or create a new goal? What measurable milestones do you expect to see along the way to show you that you’re on the right track? Do you have a Plan B in mind, or will you figure that out if the time comes?
After focus comes Passion: If it is success that one desires and they are without passion, the chances of success are slim indeed. Passion is the 110% investment that is absolutely necessary to keep the motivation and drive to see
any concept become a reality.
Serving Others: The truly admired, the truly esteemed, the truly successful are those who find the ability to serve. The American comedian Dick Gregory once stated,
"One of the things I keep learning is that the secret of
being happy is doing things for other people".
Persistence: All successful people are persistent, really. Leave it to a baby to illustrate persistence; when they're first learning to walk they fall down.....a lot, but they always get up. No matter how long it takes or how many times they fail they always get back up. People don't realize that Thomas Edison, who invented so many things including the light bulb, didn’t just pop the light bulb out on the first try; it took years and many failures to come up with the finished product.
Communication: You can have all the qualities listed above but if there not the ability to effectively communicate and build interpersonal relationships, what have you gained?
