Meet Dr Barr Ngozi Ekeoma: The Latest D.Litt Degree Holder in Town

She needs little or no introduction before taking her place of pride in Nigeria's business and legal community •Dr Barr Ngozi Ekeoma – GMD, Nepal Energies– The legal Amazon‑turned‑energy mogul just walked away with the latest D.Litt (Honoris Causa) from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) during its 37th convocation ceremony last week. The honor, announced alongside heavy‑hitters like Aliko Dangote and Senator George Akume, puts her in the same academic spotlight as the nation’s top industrialists



Ngozi Ekeoma steers Nepal Energies, the rebranded powerhouse that used to be Nepal Oil and Gas Services. Under her leadership the company has shifted focus toward renewables, expanded its downstream and mid‑stream footprint, and even secured its first marginal‑field award in 2020  She’s also a Harvard Business School alumnus, a qualified lawyer, and a member of the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators  

Her professional résumé is as impressive as her academic accolades. Apart from the honorary doctorate, she sits on numerous corporate boards, runs several subsidiaries (including First Fenders, Quest Shipping, and Sorties Logistics), and is a regular speaker on leadership and alternative dispute resolution  



The FUTO convocation highlighted that she has helped the university lift its national ranking to 14th and boost graduate employability to second place in the National Employability Index  

Philanthropy runs deep in her DNA. Ngozi Ekeoma has built an ultra‑modern block of classrooms for a proposed Police College in Oghara, runs feeding programmes for the poor across Nigeria, and funds scholarships through the Pa Anyaso Skill Acquisition Centre  

 She also champions women‑ and youth‑empowerment initiatives, from “Operation Clothe the Widows” to environmental clean‑up drives under Nepal Energies
