State of the Nation.....Why Senator Ned Nwoko Spearheading The Historic Push for Anioma State: A Call for Justice, Unity, and Development

Delta/Abuja, Nigeria – Distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has reignited the longstanding demand for the creation of Anioma State, framing it as a corrective measure to decades of systemic marginalization and historical injustice. The proposed state, encompassing Aniocha, Ika, Oshimili, and Ndokwa/Ukwuani, seeks to address regional imbalance, unlock economic potential, and restore cultural dignity to the Igbo-speaking communities west of the Niger River.

*A Legacy of Marginalization, A Vision for Equity

Anioma’s inclusion as Nigeria’s 37th state would rectify the Southeast’s underrepresentation (five states vs. six in other regions), enhance political cloves, and redirect federal resources to improve infrastructure, healthcare, and education. “This is not a privilege—it’s a right,” Senator Nwoko asserted. “Anioma contributes immensely to Nigeria’s economy yet remains neglected.”

*Economic Powerhouse in the Making

With fertile agricultural lands, oil/gas reserves (Ndokwa’s Okpai Power Plant), and a skilled diaspora, Anioma promises self-sufficiency. “Our people are tired of begging for crumbs,” Nwoko emphasized. Statehood would catalyze investments, job creation, and poverty alleviation.

*Cultural Unity and National Reconciliation

“Anioma is Igbo land,” Nwoko declared, citing shared traditions (Eke markets, festivals) and names (Okonkwo, Nwafor). The state symbolizes healing post-civil war and counters colonial divides. “It’s a national necessity, not a regional demand,” he added.

*Legislative Progress & Call to Action

The Anioma State Bill has passed two Senate readings. With President Tinubu’s support, it could become reality. Nwoko urges citizens to “make noise, mobilize, and claim this right.”

*Key Benefits of Anioma State:

*Political Representation:3 Senate seats, expanded LGAs, local governance.

*Economic Growth: Agriculture, energy, tourism, and industry.

*Cultural Preservation:Strengthening Igbo heritage.

 *Infrastructure: Roads, schools, healthcare, security.
