Personal Finance Alert: Rev. Dr. Sarah Omakwu Warns Against the "Poverty Evil Spirit"

"Save a little, invest wisely, and watch it grow; for a  penny saved is two pence clear."— Benjamin Franklin

Globally respected spiritual leader Rev. Dr. Sarah Omakwu of Our Family Worship Center has issued a stark warning about a dangerous financial mindset she calls the “poverty evil spirit.”

In a powerful message made available to Cerutti Media ( Personal finance segment), she cautioned that individuals who recklessly spend money as fast as they earn it are under the influence of this destructive force. “Those who make money and are restless to finish spending it in one go are possessed with an EVIL poverty spirit,” she emphasized.

         •The Cycle of Financial Instability

Rev. Omakwu explained that this mindset leads to a vicious cycle: “You give them ₦20,000, and they will not rest till it’s gone in one go.” Such behavior ignores the biblical principle of financial stewardship—allocating resources for *necessities (bread), investment (seed), and savings*. “Even if you hit a million today, you must learn to leave it in the bank to rest while you go looking for new money,” she advised. This discipline, she noted, is how millionaires are made.

•Money Shouldn’t Control You

“The poverty evil spirit” clouds judgment, causing people to prioritize instant gratification over long-term security. “Money must never make you lose focus or forget your commitment to God,” Rev. Omakwu stressed. She urged believers to break this pattern by practicing restraint, budgeting, and trusting in God’s provision.

•A Call to Spiritual and Financial Freedom

Her message resonated with many struggling to manage finances amid economic pressures. “This isn’t just about money—it’s about spiritual warfare,” she said. “Renounce the poverty spirit, seek wisdom, and align your finances with purpose.”

 •Action Steps Forward

1. Budget: Split income into needs, savings, and investments.

2. Save: Build an emergency fund.

3. Invest:Grow wealth steadily.

4. Pray: Seek God’s guidance in stewardship.

Rev. Omakwu’s words serve as a wake-up call: true wealth isn’t in spending, but in wise management

“Break the cycle. Trust God. Prosper responsibly,” she concluded. #FinancialWisdom #BreakThePovertySpirit #StewardshipMatters
