Dame Julie Coker Commends Chief 'Lekan Alabi and the Olubadan for Warm Reception of NTA Team

Ibadan, Nigeria — In a compelling gesture of unity, culture, and continuity in Nigerian media excellence, veteran broadcaster and media icon, Dame Julie Coker, has lauded Chief 'Lekan Alabi, the Abese Olubadan-designate and the first Culture Ambassador of the National Museum and Monument, Ile-Ife, for his gracious and dignified reception of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) team during a recent courtesy visit.

The visit, led by Mr. Taiwo Iterogba, the newly appointed Zonal Director of the NTA Ibadan Network Centre, marks a significant step in fostering cultural synergy and renewing institutional relationships that date back decades.

According to Dame Julie Coker, this visit reflects not only a powerful tradition of respect between media and monarchy but also underscores the unwavering resilience of Nigerian journalism in embracing heritage, leadership, and community engagement.

“It fills my heart with pride to see the torch of excellence being carried forward by the new leadership of NTA Ibadan. Mr. Iterogba’s visit to Chief 'Lekan Alabi is more than symbolic—it is a reaffirmation of our shared commitment to cultural integrity and historical preservation,” said Dame Coker.

She further praised Chief Alabi, a seasoned cultural custodian and media-friendly royal ambassador, for welcoming the NTA team with open arms and deep respect—an act she described as “timely, noble, and deeply empowering.”

Dame Julie Coker, herself a pioneering force in Nigeria’s broadcasting history and one of the first female faces on Nigerian television, described the moment as “a bridge between generations—anchored in mutual honour, and bound by a love for country and culture.”

She extended her heartfelt appreciation to the Olubadan-in-Council and the revered Olubadan of Ibadanland for continually upholding the values of openness, tradition, and dialogue with modern institutions.
